build price = hours x rate, rounded to $50 = 24.5 h x $60 = $1,450 monthly = hosting + care hours x rate = $15 + 1 h x $60 = $75 first year = build + 12 x monthly = $2,350

These are the calculator's assumptions (6 h setup, 2.5 h a page, the feature hours in the form), not survey data. Use your own hours once you have timed a few builds.

How the price is worked out

Hours first, then money. The build is 6 hours of setup, design and launch, plus 2.5 hours a page, plus the hours for each feature you tick, times your hourly rate, rounded to the nearest $50. The monthly care plan is your hosting and tools cost plus the care hours you promise each month, times the same rate. Every one of these numbers is an input you can change.

Questions

How much should I charge for a small business website?

Price your hours: setup plus build time per page plus features, times your rate. With this calculator's defaults, a 5-page site at $60 an hour is $1,450. Change the inputs to match how fast you work.

Should I charge a monthly fee for a website?

A care plan covers hosting, updates and small edits, and it gives you income between builds. Price it as your hosting cost plus the hours you promise each month.

Are these website prices market rates?

No. They come from the hours and rate you enter. The calculator shows its formula so you can see exactly where each number comes from.

Where do I find local businesses that need a website?
