How the split works

Side by side on the map sorts every city along the state's longer axis (west to east, or south to north for a tall state) using the average position of its listings, then cuts the line into runs of cities with close to an equal share of businesses each. Territories are contiguous strips, so a rep drives less. Balanced by size deals the largest city first to the territory with the fewest businesses so far: closer totals, scattered cities.

A single city larger than an equal share cannot be split, so one territory can end up larger than the rest; the table shows the largest and smallest. Cities are counted as the listing names them.

Questions

How do you divide sales territories fairly?

Start from how many prospects each area holds, not its size on the map. This planner counts the businesses of a trade in every city of a state and cuts them into territories with close to equal totals.

Should territories be balanced or geographic?

Geographic territories keep each rep's cities together, which suits field sales. Balanced territories give closer totals and suit phone or email outreach, where distance does not matter. The planner does both.

Can I export the territories?

Yes. Each result links a CSV with one row per city and its territory, ready for a CRM or a spreadsheet.
