How this works

The guesses are built from the name and domain you type: about 30 common formats, ordered by how often each format appears in the emails 67Leads found on local-business websites for the trade (or for all trades). Names are folded to plain letters first, so accents, apostrophes and hyphens do not break an address (Zoë O'Brien becomes zoe and obrien).

Where the table comes from: every business in the 67Leads warehouse with both an owner name and an email, opted-out businesses excluded. Each address is counted once: free-mail domains first, then role inboxes such as info@ or office@, then the owner-name formats; anything else (a company-name inbox, another person's name) is "other". Owner names are read from company websites and can be wrong, which pushes some addresses into "other". Trades with fewer than 20 such rows are folded into "All trades".

Questions

What is an email permutator?

A tool that lists the likely email addresses for a person from their name and their company's domain: john@, john.smith@, jsmith@ and so on. It guesses; it does not check whether any address exists.

What email format do small businesses use most?

In the 4,029 local-business emails 67Leads holds with an owner name, 42% are role addresses like info@, 8% are the owner's first name and 31% are free Gmail, Yahoo or similar addresses. The table above has the split by trade.

Should I email info@ or the owner?

At a small business, info@ is often read by the owner anyway. Send to the owner's own address when you have it and it verifies, and to info@ otherwise.

Does this tool verify the addresses?

No. It does no DNS or mail-server lookups. Verify a guess before you send to it; a bounced address costs sender reputation.

How do I find the owner's name?

Often on the company's About page. 67Leads reads owner names from company websites where they are stated, and its exports carry them as owner_name, first_name and last_name.
