What is Role address?
A role address is an email address for a function rather than a person, such as info@, office@, sales@ or support@.
Also called: role-based email, shared inbox.
Role addresses are shared inboxes. Several people may read them, or nobody may, and they are often filtered differently from personal mail. For a small local business, info@ or office@ is frequently the only address published on the website, and it may well be read by the owner.
Whether a role address is a good lead depends on what you sell. If you need the decision-maker by name, a personal-looking address (jane@ or jsmith@) is more direct. If you sell to the business as a whole, the front-desk inbox is the address the business chose to publish for exactly that purpose.
Some verifiers and sending tools flag role addresses as risky or drop them by default. That is a policy choice, not a verdict on whether the mailbox exists: a role address can be fully valid under SMTP verification.
67Leads uses one pattern list (info, office, contact, sales, support, admin and others, nearly sixty in all) both to label each row and to power the personal-email filter in search, so the count and the export always agree.
In our data: Of the business emails in the 67Leads warehouse, 42% (18,508 of 44,205) are role addresses such as info@ or office@.
