What CAN-SPAM requires
From FTC, CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business (checked 5 Nov 2026): the law covers all commercial email, with no exception for business-to-business email. Its requirements: no false or misleading header information; no deceptive subject lines; identify the message as an ad; tell recipients where you are located with a valid physical postal address; tell them how to opt out; let subscribers and members opt out too; honor opt-outs within 10 business days, keeping the mechanism working for at least 30 days after sending; and monitor anyone who sends for you. The FTC guide states each separate email in violation can cost up to $53,088.
CAN-SPAM is the US floor. State laws and other countries' rules (and inbox providers' sender rules) can ask for more.
